‘The New Mutants’ First Trailer Plops Maisie Williams, Teenage Mutants in Horror Thriller (Video)

New Marvel release opens April 3

“Game of Thrones” alum Maisie Williams joins a handful of other teenage mutants in the first trailer for Fox’s “X-Men” series spinoff “The New Mutants.”

The horror thriller, released in association with Marvel Entertainment, is set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.

“This isn’t a hospital — it’s a cage,” says Anya Taylor-Joy’s Illyana Rasputin, a.k.a. Magik, who even-handedly admits she killed 18 men early in the clip.

In addition to Taylor-Joy and Williams, who plays Rahne Sinclair (a.k.a. Wolfsbane), the cast includes Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, Blu Hunt and Henry Zaga.

Josh Boone directed from a script he wrote with Knate Lee. The film is produced by Simon Kinberg, Karen Rosenfelt and Lauren Shuler Donner with Stan Lee and Michele Imperato Stabile serving as executive producers.

Fox is releasing the film on April 3.
