“It’s one of those scripts that every couple of pages you’re just like, ‘Oh my God,’ and you have to put it down for a second and you have to just think about it,” said Norman Reedus, who plays fan-favorite Daryl.

Chad L. Coleman (Tyreese) summed up the script for the season premiere in one word, “Wow,” while Steven Yeun (Glenn) called it “a great welcome to the season.”

Andrew Lincoln, who plays group leader Rick, said, “It’s the most ambitious, the first episode, I think we’ve attempted.” He described this fifth season as one where everyone has to figure out their place in the group.

But are they pushing the envelope too far this season? Lauren Cohan, who portrays Maggie, said at the shoot, “This episode is so disturbing … Some of the stuff they shot yesterday, I don’t know if it’ll make it to TV.” Fans will find out when Season 5 kicks off in October 2014.
