Theater Chain AMC Looking to Raise $450M With IPO

Exhibitor’s latest IPO announcement comes after two previously scuttled attempts

Theater giant AMC Entertainment has filed for initial public offering with the aim of raising $450 million.

This marks the exhibitor's third attempt to initiate an IPO. The Kansas City, Missouri-based chain first filed for IPO in December 2006 but withdrew it several months later due to market conditions.

The company plans to repay debt with the monies. JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs are leading the underwriters on the offering.

The exhibitor recently launched Open Road, a joint venture with rival Regal that will release independent movies.
