How ‘This Is Us’ Cast Kept Jack’s Death Secret With a Little Help From Beyonce (Video)

Queen Bey’s “Lemonade” inspired the NBC family drama’s tight security measures

If the post-Super Bowl episode of “This Is Us” had you in tears over the revelation of how Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) died, then Sunday’s “Tonight Show” was the cure for your pain.

Not long after the soul-crushing episode, Jimmy Fallon spoke with “This is Us” cast members Mandy Moore,  Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley on his show. The cast was there to comfort fans in every way they could, including sharing a few funny stories that will hopefully soak up some of your sobs.

While there were no spoilers about Jack’s cause of death (a huge reveal in the episode), the cast explained how they managed to keep the plot to themselves.

According to Ventimiglia, the scripts were printed on red paper, so it couldn’t be copied, and the cast had to use a password whenever they mentioned Jack’s death, which was marble.

“We think it’s because of Beyonce, y’all,” said Metz.

“We hear that ‘Lemonade’ was called ‘Marble’, or our writers did and they thought this experience would be titled that,” Moore added, reminding the audience of Beyonce’s 2016 visual album.

Hartley was totally shocked to hear its reasoning. Apparently Kevin is not the only one who gets left out of the loop.
