Tiffany Haddish, the breakout star of last summer’s comedy hit “Girls Trip,” delivered a barnburner of a speech accepting the Best Supporting Actress prize from the New York Film Critics Circle on Wednesday.
Oscar voters, take note: We all want her to accept more awards and give more hilarious, improvisational riffs like this one in the coming months.
The actress appeared at the podium clutching a martini glass filled with a grapefruit-flavored cocktail named for her — the “Tiffany Toast” — and proclaimed, “It’s delicious. I’ve had two and I do feel like magic.”
She then proceeded to deliver a roughly 15-minute, stream-of-consciousness speech in which she thanked everyone from her parents to God; compared herself to both a wild dog and to a Hindu goddess; and flirted shamelessly with “Black Panther” star Michael B. Jordan, who was in the audience at the show.
