Tim Gunn Trashes Kanye West’s ‘Dumb, Basic’ Yeezy Fashion Line (Video)

“I’m totally perplexed about why the fashion industry has not looked at these frankly dumb, basic clothes and cried hoax,” says “Project Runway” host

“Project Runway” host Tim Gunn is clearly not a fan of Kanye West and his fashion line.

During an appearance on “Access Hollywood Live” on Tuesday, Gunn ripped into West’s recent show for his Yeezy line at New York Fashion Week.

“I’m totally perplexed about why the fashion industry has not looked at these frankly dumb, basic clothes and cried hoax,” he said. “I mean, Kanye West is a sphinx without a riddle. I just don’t understand why people are so in awe. Look at this. They’re basically wearing… stretch undergarments.”

Gunn was referring to models at West’s Yeezy Season 4 runway show, which already drew criticism for its disorganization. Models and guests waited more than two hours in the sweltering heat for the show to start at its outdoor venue on Roosevelt Island in the East River between Manhattan and Queens.

“It’s our life’s mission to create the most transformative experiences,” West wrote over a series of tweets on Twitter in response to the criticisms.

“Each and every one’s time, insight and feelings are invaluable to us. We want to make people feel great. Thank you for embarking on this creative journey. With love and respect, Kanye West.”

But West did not make it work for Gunn.

“I think the only thing dumber than the clothes would be the people who would buy these clothes,” the Emmy-winning TV host concluded.
