After news broke that NBC was renewing the time-travel show “Timeless” just three days after announced its cancellation, the cast, creators and fans of the freshman series took to social media to express their excitement.

“Mission completed. Couldn’t have done it without you!!! NBC heard your cries and changed their minds! We’re baaaaack,” cast member Matt Lanter, who plays Wyatt Logan, tweeted. He also posted a Facebook Live video following the announcement.

Sakina Jaffrey, who stars as Denise Christopher, tweeted, “THIS MOTHER FRICKIN’ LIFEBOAT IS REAL!!!!!! Hallelujah!”

And even the series co-creators, Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan, could not contain their excitement on Saturday.

“Can’t thank the fans enough for fighting so hard for us online and spreading the word about the show,” Ryan wrote. “Can’t wait to show you more.”

After canceling the time-travel drama on Wednesday, NBC had a change of heart. It certainly didn’t hurt that fans loudly vocalized their disappointment with the initial decision: “Timeless” was the top pick in USA Today’s “Save Our Shows” poll.

The Abigail Spencer-starring series centers around a mysterious criminal who steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine, intent on destroying America as we know it by changing the past.

The nation’s only hope is an unexpected team: a scientist, soldier and history professor who must use the machine’s prototype to travel back in time to preserve critical events. While they must make every effort not to affect the past themselves, they must also stay one step ahead of this dangerous fugitive.
