TNT Greenlights Steven Bochco Drama Starring Taye Diggs

“Murder in the First” will also star Tom Felton and Kathleen Robertson

TNT has given the go-ahead to “Murder in the First,” a new scripted drama from Steven Bochco that will star Taye Diggs and Kathleen Robertson.

Co-created by “Hill Street Blues” boss Bochco and Eric Lodal (“The Locrian Mode”), the series will follow a single case through its entire 10-episode first season. Set in San Francisco, “Murder in the First” centers on  homicide detectives Terry English (Diggs) and Hildy Mulligan (Robertson) as they investigate the murder of an apparent drug addict. The mystery deepens, however, when the victim is found to have a connection to a celebrated CEO of a cutting-edge tech firm.

“Harry Potter” alum Tom Felton plays the CEO, Erich Blunt. The timing of the investigation couldn’t be worse for Blunt, who’s preparing to take his company public and being sued by a software developer who claims Blunt stole his code for a revolutionary new hologram system.

TNT Originals is producing the series, with Bochco serving as executive producer and Lodal as co-executive producer. The series is slated to premiere on TNT in summer 2014.
