The trailer features a barely recognizable, heavily tattooed Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, lead singer of fictional '80s rock band Arsenal. It also shows other members of the ensemble cast, decked out in glam-rock gear: Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Julianne Hough.

"Rock of Ages" is based on the Broadway musical of the same name. It is directed and choreographed by Adam Shankman, who previously directed another Broadway musical-turned-movie, 2007's "Hairspray."

"Rock of Ages" revolves around a love story set at a fictional club on the Sunset Strip.

"This place is about to become a sea of sweat, ear-shattering music and puke," Baldwin says in the trailer below.

The movie is set for a June 1 release.
