Toronto: Documentary About Burt’s Bees Founder Sells

Everyday Pictures and FilmBuff nab “Burt’s Buzz”

Everyday Pictures and FilmBuff has acquired the documentary “Burt’s Buzz,” the distributors said Monday from the Toronto International Film Festival.

The film follows idiosyncratic Burt’s Bees founder Burt Shavitz, whose peripatetic life took him from a career in photo journalism, to beekeeping, to his current role as a global brand ambassador for a billion dollar natural products line.

The companies plan to release “Burt’s Buzz” in theaters and on video on demand in early 2014. It premiered in the documentary section in Toronto.

The film was directed and produced by Jody Shapiro (“How to Start Your Own Country”) and executive produced by Jean Du Toit, Phyllis Laing and “Blue Velvet” star Isabella Rossellini.
