‘Trainspotting 2’ First Trailer Is Best Kind of Insanity (Video)

Sequel to 1996 Danny Boyle film will premiere on Feb. 3 in U.S.

The first “Trainspotting 2” trailer offers fans a glimpse at the same drugged out craziness that made the first film a classic.

Officially titled “T2: Trainspotting,” the film picks up 20 years later in the life of former heroin addict Mark “Rent” Renton (Ewan McGregor). He ends up reconnecting with his former drug pals, including Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Johnny Lee Miller), and Begbie (Robert Carlyle)

Played by Ewen Bremner, Ewan McGregor, Johnny Lee Miller, and Robert Carlyle respectively, the four will reunite for the first time onscreen since the success of the original 1996 film.

“Trainspotting” is based on Irvine Welsh’s book of the same name and went on to be a global sensation, also launching McGregor’s career. In the film, McGregor’s Renton becomes disenchanted with his life as a heroin addict in Edinburgh, but can’t seem to tear himself away.

The film also helped establish director Danny Boyle, who directed this film as well. John Hodge wrote the screenplay. Bernard Bellew, Boyle, Christian Colson and Andrew Macdonald are producing.

“T2: Trainspotting” will debut in the U.S. on Feb. 3, 2017.
