Trevor Noah: ‘You Can Be Pro-Cop and Pro-Black, Which Is What We Should All Be’ (Video)

“Daily Show” host offers an obvious alternative stance to all the bickering

Trevor Noah spent Thursday’s “Daily Show” tackling the controversial topic of cops disproportionally shooting and killing members of the black community, and the comedian said something rather wise and obvious that hasn’t come up much lately.

“If you’re pro Black Lives Matter, you’re assumed to be anti-police. And if you’re pro-police, then you surely hate black people,” the biracial South-African native began. “In reality, you can be pro-cop and pro-black, which is what we should all be. It’s what we should be aiming for.”

He did manage to mix in a few jokes with the very serious and polarizing topic, like: “I guess technically that means you could also be anti-cop and anti-black, which would make you Mel Gibson.

Noah then broke out his “generic white guy” impression to question why police — and some members of the general public — seem to make excuses for certain cop shootings that get caught on camera. The New York City-based Comedy Central crowd lapped the whole segment up.
