Donald Trump, hero of the LGBT community? Wednesday’s ban on transgender people serving in the U.S. military suggests he’s not quite the champion of LGBT rights that he promised to be just last June during his campaign for president.
At that time, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee warned voters from that demographic that his likely opponent Hillary Clinton would instead bring in “more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs.”

On Wednesday, Trump’s Twitter feed struck a dramatically different tone — specifically when it comes to transgender rights and the U.S. military, which he leads as Commander-in-Chief.
