Trump Sends Support to London, but Not Before Endorsing His Travel Ban

“We need the travel ban as an extra level of safety,” POTUS says before sending thoughts to possible terror victims

President Donald Trump weighed in on two potential terrorist attacks in London on Saturday, and used the incidents to garner support for his proposed travel ban.

“We need to be smart, vigilant and tough. We need the courts to give us back our rights. We need the Travel Ban as an extra level of safety!” Trump tweeted late Saturday afternoon.

Minutes later, he added: “Whatever the United States can do to help out in London and the U. K., we will be there – WE ARE WITH YOU. GOD BLESS!”

Trump refers, of course, to his executive order to deny individuals from Muslim majority countries entry to the United States. The order was defiantly ignored by the judiciary and widely protested by the American people and influencers in tech, business and entertainment and media.

The city of London, meanwhile, is reeling from attacks on the London Bridge and an adjacent pedestrian market. A van traveling 50 mph boarded a sidewalk along the bridge and mowed down a reported 20 people.

At least one is dead, and several are injured. There are also reports that, once liberated from the van, one or several passengers attempted to stab bystanders.

In the Borough Market nearby, gunfire rang out and more stabbings occurred as armed police secured restaurants and vendors.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said the events are being treated as a “potential act of terror.”
