Tuesday Ratings: Fox Continues to Ride Surging ‘Glee’

Network No. 1 again in key adult demo, with freshman musical phenom dominating 9 o’clock time period

Fox rode the burgeoning key-demo strength of “Glee” to yet another Tuesday-night ratings win.

ABC, meanwhile, experienced the predictable drawing power of the penultimate “Lost,” and finished in second place for the night.

Here are Tuesday’s ratings highlights and lowlights:

HANGING CHAD: Even the ouster of eccentric NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco couldn’t spark ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” which saw its results show do a 2.5 rating/7 share in the 18-49 demo – down 21 percent from the comparable telecast last spring. However, with a 4.1/10, “Lost had its best demo performance in two months.

DON’T START NON-BELIEVIN’: “Glee” produced the night’s second biggest demo score with a 4.8/12 – flat with last week. The biggest, of course, belongs to the now perpetually slipping “American Idol” – although, the week-to-week slippage was only 3 percent to 6.6/18.

CRIME … AND RATINGS PUNISHMENT: CBS saw its entire Tuesday-night lineup crater, with “NCIS” (down 18 percent to a 3.2/9), “NCIS: L.A. (down 6 percent to a 3.1/8) and “The Good Wife” (down 4 percent to a 2.3/6) all dropping.
