Reliance Buys Young Adult Trilogy from ‘Twin Peaks’ Creator

Mark Frost sells film rights to his upcoming Random House trilogy "The Paladin Prophecy" to Reliance and Kintop Pictures

Reliance Entertainment and Kintop Pictures have paid seven figures for the film rights to “The Paladin Prophecy,” an upcoming young adult trilogy written by Mark Frost, co-creator of “Twin Peaks.”

Random House will publish the first book in the “Paladin” series this September and Reliance hopes to release the first film in 2014.

"We are thrilled to be in business with a master storyteller like Mark Frost," producer Deepak Nayar of Kintop/Reliance said in a statement. "These books align perfectly with what the international motion picture audience is looking for."

The literary series chronicles Will West, a teenager who initially tries to hide his "unusual abilities" before entering "a complex world of secret societies and supernatural conflicts."

Reliance will develop the screenplay of the first book with Frost, a best-selling author whose other screenwriting credits include “Fantastic Four” and numerous episodes of "Hill Street Blues." Frost will also executive produce.
