Universal in Talks to Acquire ‘Arabian Knights’ for Brian Grazer

Universal is in final negotiations to acquire Blacklight Transmedia's "Arabian Knights," with Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment set to produce, TheWrap has learned.

Kyle Ward and Blacklight co-created the concept, which is a reimagining of "1001 Arabian Knights." Ward will write the screenplay.

Grazer will produce alongside Erica Huggins and Blacklight's Zak Kadison. Blacklight's Eric Lieb is executive producer.

Ward's deal and the producer deals are closed. Universal is completing negotiations with Blacklight.

Blacklight specializes in projects that go across media. The company develops movies, videogames, television shows, graphic novels and books all at once.

In this case, Blacklight will develop the videogame franchise and the graphic novel and book series.
