Tennis is a sport for gentleman and classy ladies. And also Bernard Tomic, apparently.
On Tuesday, the world’s 19th-ranked tennis player found himself up against not only the unranked Damir Dzumhur at the US Open, but also a heckler. Dzumhur beat Tomic, but the heckler may have actually destroyed him.
That’s not to say Tomic didn’t get his own, err, licks in with the fan.
“I will put my balls in your mouth,” Tomic told the spectator, adding, “I will give you some money to make you feel good.”
Later, the Australian just flat out told the fan,” Suck my balls” — you know, in case the guy didn’t do the math on that the first time.
Chair umpire Cedric Mourier asked Tomic during a timeout what the back-and-forth fuss was all about, to which the US Open’s No. 17 seed replied, “He was just saying some shit.”
Mourier then advised Tomic to come to him next time, instead of telling someone to suck his balls all by himself. We’re paraphrasing the official’s words, of course.
In the end, Dzumhur toppled Tomic 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(0) to advance to the second round. There, his serves probably won’t be interrupted by requests for oral sex.
Check out all the craziness below, thanks to Swedish tennis writer Alex Theodoridis. (Seriously, we can’t thank him enough.)
