Warner Bros. has won a bidding war for a Dan Fogelman-penned drama with Tom Cruise attached as lead, TheWrap has confirmed.
The movie is about a man who has never made a mistake in his life and becomes a politician. His first mistake — an affair — causes his perfectly constructed life to fall apart and he returns home to rebuild.
The studio bought the project on the strength of Fogelman's pitch.
An individual familiar with the project told TheWrap that Fogelman made multiple pitches on Wednesday. Negotiations at Warner Bros. began on Thursday morning and were completed by early evening, an individual close to the deal said.
The studio bought the movie for more than $1.5 million.
Fogelman is repped by WME and Erin Brown at Industry Entertainment.
Deadline first reported the news.
