It is finally here: the racy, sexual, scandalous red-band trailer for Alicia Vikander and Dane DeHaan’s “Tulip Fever.”
In the new teaser, which debuted exclusively on Vanity Fair on Tuesday, Vikander stars as the wife of an aristocrat (Christoph Waltz). However, she falls for a painter, played by DeHaan, who is commissioned to paint her portrait. The two begin a steamy love affair, while people threatening to expose their romance leads the duo to plan an escape route.
According to Page Six, a 30-second trailer for the film was deemed too racy for television earlier this month. The film is R-rated and featured a sex scene between Vikander and DeHaan that was approved by the MPAA but was later rejected by Fox. The Weinstein Co. had said it won’t cut the scene from the clip.
Also starring Judi Dench, the film is based on Deborah Moggach’s novel about an affair between an artist and a married woman. While the film’s release date has been pushed a bunch, “Tulip Fever” is now officially slated for a Sept. 1 release date.
