Relativity announced Wednesday that writer Alex Tse ("Watchmen") will re-adapt the 1994 film "The Crow," which is based on the comic book series by James O’Barr.
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo ("28 Weeks Later") will direct the remake. Bradley Cooper will star.
Producers told TheWrap last summer that Nick Cave was attached to write the remake. However, an individual close to Relativity said the studio decided to go in a different narrative direction.
According to a Relativity press release, Tse-penned "Crow" remake will “be a gritty reboot of the gothic iconic character Eric Draven, who returns from the grave as The Crow on a mission to avenge his wife’s murder, so that his soul can finally rest.”

Driven partly by the publicity surrounding the onset death of film star Brandon Lee — the son of Bruce Lee died in a freak stunt-related accident — the film cultivated a modest domestic gross of $50.7 million holding its own as a cult-classic.
