‘Westworld’ Teaser Sees Evan Rachel Wood, Anthony Hopkins in Terrifying New Reality (Video)

James Marsden, Ed Harris also star in Jonathan Nolan’s HBO remake of 1973 Western sci-fi film

HBO blends sci-fi and Western tropes for their newest highly anticipated series, and the first teaser trailer for “Westworld” sees Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood navigating a terrifying new reality.

The series is based on the 1973 film of the same name, and is set at a theme park run by very life-like androids. Unlike the film, which centered around human visitors being menaced by robot workers, the show will be from the workers’ perspective.

As the first teaser shows, the robots may find themselves questioning the nature of their own existence.

The one-hour drama’s cast also includes Ed Harris, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman.

From Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions and Kilter Films in association with Warner Bros. Television, executive producers include J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk. “Person of Interest” executive producer Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy co-wrote the pilot, and will also executive produce.

Rounding out the production team is co-Executive producer Kathy Lingg, producer Athena Wickham and co-Producer Susie Ekins.

“Westworld” will premiere in 2016.
