Whoopi Goldberg Blasts Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: ‘Learn the Job’ and Stop ‘Pooping on People’

“There is absolutely room for new energy but you can’t poop on what was,” “The View” host says

Whoopi Goldberg ripped Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on “The View” Monday, saying that Ocasio-Cortez should sit down and learn the job and stop “pooping” on establishment Democrats.

“There are people in that party who have been working their tails off for this country and they know a lot, and you can learn some stuff from them,” Goldberg said. “Before you start pooping on people and what they’ve done, you’ve gotta do something too. There is absolutely room for new energy but you can’t poop on what was when you’re coming in on the shoulders of quite a few giants.”

Goldberg cited experienced Democratic politicians Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. John Lewis as examples of who Ocasio-Cortez should be more deferential to. The mini-monologue came during a broader conversation about the political scene heading into 2020.

Reps for Ocasio-Cortez did not immediately respond to request for comment from TheWrap.

Sworn in last Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez has already become a polarizing figure in the new Congress. While she is a favorite of activists and the Bernie Sanders wing of the party, establishment Democrats have reacted more cooly.

Most current Democratic representatives endorsed her opponent, longtime Democratic lawmaker Joe Crowley, who Ocasio-Cortez defeated in a primary before winning the general election. Ocasio-Cortez has called for radical new policy changes, like a green new deal and sharply increased taxes to pay for it.

While Ocasio-Cortez has mocked the GOP’s efforts to attack her, Goldberg’s criticism will be harder to swat down as she is one of the show’s longtime liberal voices.
