Whoopi Goldberg is set to join 2017 breakout star Tiffany Haddish in Tyler Perry’s “The List,” also starring Tika Sumpter and Omari Hardwick.
Perry announced that the Oscar winner would be joining the cast during an appearance on “The View” Monday, where Goldberg has been a host for more than a decade.
Perry will direct the film from a script he also penned. “The List” follows a woman (Haddish) who reunites with her sister (Sumpter) after being released from prison. Sumpter’s character later discovers that she’s is in an online relationship with a man who may be catfishing her.
Paramount Pictures is set to release “The List” Nov. 2, through its newly-launched Paramount Players.
The Viacom Inc.-owned studio has struggled financially recently as the parent company’s stock has fallen more than 32 percent in the last 12 months, but management has said a turnaround at Paramount is well underway.
