‘The View’s’ Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd Clash With Will Cain Over Bisexuality, Gun Violence (Video)

Guest host disputes Goldberg’s numbers on school shootings and gets ribbed on bisexuality comments

Conservative cable news pundit Will Cain proved himself a contentious guest host on Wednesday’s edition of “The View” when he mixed it up with the panelists over school shooting statistics and bisexuality.

During a discussion of hot topics, Whoopi Goldberg made the observation that the recent school shooting in Oregon was the 74th school shooting since December 2012.

“I don’t think it’s the 74th,” Cain countered.

“You’re just messing with me,” Goldberg said. “Not the 74th? What is it?”

“You know, look, that’s a stat put out by a group called Every Town USA, who is for gun control,” Cain explained. “We know a couple stats, this is by Pew and the FBI. Gun violence is down drastically in the last 20 years. Every time these things happen, we want to learn a lesson. It’s understandable, we want to grab sanity. How do we ensure this doesn’t happen? I don’t know, crazy people exist. I think when the media reports so breathlessly on these things, they copycat each other.”

“I know one thing simple math says,” Sherri Shepherd interjected. “You can do more damage in five seconds with a gun than you can with a knife.”

Later in the show, Goldberg observed that “True Blood” star Anna Paquin said she was proud to be a happily married bisexual mother.

Jenny McCarthy noted that Cain made the observation that “everyone is a little bisexual.”

“Are you bisexual?” Shepherd asked Cain.

“I am not,” Cain said. “That’s fine, that’s the risk I run when I say that. A guy that wears boots like this, you’re either gay or extremely confident straight.”

McCarthy observed there was a double standard between the genders in acknowledging bisexuality.

“Look, I think everybody is a little bit bisexual,” Cain reiterated. “We try to make these categories too neat and clean. Gay and straight. It’s probably some sort of a spectrum.”

“Is that something that you want to do that you’re putting on everybody?” Shepard zinged.

“I’m happily married to a woman,” Cain said.

Shepherd was uncomfortable with Cain’s assertion.

“When you say to me, ‘I think you’re a little bit bisexual,’ how would you put that on me?” she said.
