Will Forte Is Jennjamin Franklin, Weirdest Blind Date Ever, on ‘Late Night’s’ ‘Second Chance Theatre’ (Video)

Rejected “Saturday Night Live” sketch also features Vanessa Bayer, Fred Armisen, and Jason Sudeikis as Jennjamin’s smitten date

Seth Meyers spent years as the head writer for “Saturday Night Live,” which means he saw and rejected a lot of sketches in that time. Now that he has his own show with “Late Night,” Meyers has decided to revive some of those lost sketches in a recurring bit he calls “Second Chance Theatre.”

Tuesday night, Will Forte brought his uniquely singular vision to “Second Chance Theatre” with one of the strangest sketches never seen on “SNL.” In fact, it was so bizarre that it was easy to see why it didn’t make the cut. And yet, Forte committed so completely to the role, that it almost worked. Almost.

In the sketch, Forte portrayed Jennjamin Franklin, which is basically a female version of Benjamin Franklin. As in, she looks like Benjamin Franklin right down to her bald head and masculine physique. Forte was even sporting a full beard. But none of this could dissuade her blind date, played by Jason Sudeikis, who was absolutely enamored with her.

Vanessa Bayer and Fred Armisen rounded out the “Second Chance Theatre” players as the couple who introduced Sudeikis to Jennjamin. What followed proved even more than they could handle.
