The former “Boy” is going to be getting help from some familiar faces as Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” gears up for its week-long Season 2 premiere celebration. Original “Boy Meets World” stars William Daniels and Will Friedle are both poised for a return, with the latter expected to stick around.
Friedle portrayed Eric, big brother to Ben Savage’s Cory, throughout the entire original series’ run from 1993-2000. Daniels’ Mr. Feeny served as a mentor, friend, neighbor and teacher to both boys throughout the series as well. Now 88-years-old, Daniels will make his second trip to the sequel series when he appears in the Season 2 finale on Monday, May 11. His first was a quick appearance during the series premiere.
Fans of Eric Matthews will have to wait a bit longer, as he’s not scheduled to make his “GMW” debut until Friday’s installment. The latest promo for the hit Disney series also features an appearance by Rider Strong as Cory’s best friend, Shawn.
While the focus of the show appears to remain firmly on Cory’s daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), this increased emphasis on revisiting some of the favorites from the parent series will only bolster the wide appeal of the hit series.
“Girl Meets World” premieres with a week of new episodes, kicking off Monday, May 11 at 8:30 p.m. ET on Disney Channel.
