WME Signs Popular Trivia Game QuizUp

QuizUp has accrued 10 million users over the past few months

QuizUp, the popular trivia app, has signed with WME to help extend the brand into the entertainment industry. Launched in November 2013, the app has already racked up 10 million users who answer questions about movies, sports, science and politics.

It offers users more than 360 topics and 200,000 questions, and people earn points based on how quickly (and accurately) they answer the questions. Contestants compete with other people across the globe, which makes it a natural fit for some kind of TV show or web property. WME will try to help QuizUp grow its brand and monetize across different entertainment properties.

WME has been one of the most active Hollywood talent agencies in the digital space, investing in a series of start-ups, such as VHX, which helps people sell their movies directly to fans, and Songza, a music streaming service. WME did not say it had invested in QuizUp, but it will be a strategic partner.
