WWE’s Nikki and Brie Bella on Why ‘Total Bellas’ Is Nothing Like Other Reality Shows

“It is a very different show, ‘Total Bellas’ is a deeper, more VIP look into our lives, relationships and families” than “Total Divas,” the Bella Twins tell TheWrap

Along with their professional wrestling careers, hectic travel schedules and starring roles on “Total Divas,” WWE stars Nikki and Brie Bella have added yet another notch to their championship belts.

The Bella Twins are launching their latest reality show, aptly named “Total Bellas,” on E! Wednesday, where they will no longer be grappling with the other Divas for airtime.

“Total Divas” is all about girl power and features a number of female WWE Superstars, but the latest reality outing will include plenty of perspective from the men’s point of view.

“It is a very different show, ‘Total Bellas’ is a deeper, more VIP look into our lives, relationships and families,” the twins told TheWrap. “You are going to see more of Daniel Bryan [Brie’s husband], more John Cena [Nikki’s boyfriend], and more of our family.”

And while “Divas” usually lives up to its name — being packed with feuds, cat fights and drama both in and out of the ring — the twins revealed that there is a different type of conflict on “Total Bellas.”

“When you have all of your family under one roof, drama always happens,” they said.

“Bryan and I had our first fight when the cameras were rolling, which is something I don’t want to repeat,” said Nikki, who is now being coached by her recently retired brother-in-law.

And with everything being caught on film, there is no denying your actions when you have a domestic with your other half. “We had to look back [at arguments] and think, ‘Oh my God, I really was wrong!’”

Filming with their family does have its advantages, however. “Not only do we have natural chemistry, but these are real situations for us, you have real passions for these people,” Nikki said. “I want the best for them, so these real emotions that come out.”

Any family-based reality show — especially one airing on E! — is naturally compared to “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” but the girls say “Total Bellas” is totally unique and nothing like its network predecessor.

“It is more like ‘Newlyweds’ or ‘The Osbournes’ with the comedy,” Nikki said. “But is [still] very different because of our career choices.”

One of the lessons they have learned from past reality shows is to always put your spouse or partner first and make sure their happiness is a priority. “There are times when my husband needs to be away from the camera sometimes,” Brie said.

Key plot lines in the upcoming series include Nikki coming back from neck surgery after her doctors said she’d never return to the ring, Brie coping with retirement, and Mama Bella getting married — to a wrestler, no less.

“Total Bellas” premieres Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. on E!
