‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Final Trailer Teases Wolverine (Video)

Latest entry in superhero franchise to premiere in theaters May 27

In the final trailer for “X-Men: Apocalypse,” we get a brief glimpse of Hugh Jackman‘s long rumored cameo as Wolverine.

When Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) comes across Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) in a hallway full of downed soldiers, she is stunned. “We had help,” Cyclops says. We then cut to a shot of soliders streaming down the hall when suddenly a hand with some distinctive metal claws pops onscreen.

Jackman has played Wolverine in all of the “X-Men” films to date, as well as appearing in his own two spinoff films. Jackman has previously stated that his portrayal of Wolverine in his third solo film will be the last time he plays the character.

This film will tell the story of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac), the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, who amassed the powers of many other mutants to become immortal and invincible.

Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.

The film reunites much of the cast from “X-Men: First Class” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” including James McAvoy, Lawrence, Fassbender, and Nicholas Hoult. Newcomers include Turner, Kodi Smitt-McPhee, Sheridan and Olivia Munn.

Bryan Singer returned to direct the project, along with writing the screenplay with Michael Dougherty, Dan Harris and Simon Kinberg. Kinberg and Singer are also producing with Lauren Shuler Donner. Stan Lee, Todd Hallowell, and Josh McLaglen are executive producing.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theaters on May 27.
