Three members of the YouTube travel blogging group “High on Life” were killed after falling over a waterfall in Canada on Tuesday.
Police told the Vancouver Sun that Ryker Gamble, Alexey Lyakh and Megan Scraper — all in their late twenties and early thirties — were swimming at the top of Shannon Falls in British Columbia on Tuesday when they slipped and fell into a pool system 30 meters below. The paper reported the accident happened when Scraper slipped and the two men were pulled away with her while trying to save her.
“They were three of the warmest, kindest, most driven and outgoing people you could ever meet,” the group — which posts videos of their travel adventures and counts half a million subscribers on YouTube and more than one million followers on Instagram — said in a video posted to the collective’s official page Friday. “And the world has lost a great deal of light with their passing.”
“They lived every single day to its fullest. They stood for positivity, courage and living the best life that you can and they shared and taught their values to millions of people worldwide. As tragic as their loss is, their message lives on through us all. And it is now our responsibility to keep that message going.”
The group has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to cover the cost of funeral arrangements for their families.
