Frankie Muniz’s Rep Disputes Girlfriend’s Gun, Assault Claims

The “Malcolm in the Middle” star “wasn’t suicidal,” his rep says

Former "Malcolm in the Middle" star Frankie Muniz did not strike his girlfriend, Elycia Turnbow, or put a gun to his own head during an argument between the couple last week, Muniz's rep said Wednesday.

As reported on Tuesday, Phoenix police arrived at the couple's home in response to a call on Friday. No charges were filed.

According to the police report, Turnbow told officers that Muniz, 25, had struck her and put a gun to his own head, with possible suicidal intent.

A statement issued by Muniz rep Lauren Tobin disputed those elements of the account.

"Frankie and Elycia had an argument a few days ago. Police were called to their residence.

"A gun played no part in the argument and was voluntarily given to the police for safekeeping. There were no bruises on anyone. Neither left the residence that night.

"He was not suicidal. She was not assaulted," Tobin said.

At the scene, Muniz denied having put a gun to his head, stating, "I grabbed the case, but not the gun," and added, "It isn't even loaded," according to the police report.

Muniz also denied striking Turnbow, telling police, "I love her too much. She is the woman I want to marry."

Muniz went to a hospital before police were called Friday, but Turnbow said it was because she was worried he would kill himself and he said it was because he had accidentally hit his head.

Muniz said he was the one who called police after Turnbow hurt herself while he was trying to get his computer from her.

The police report said Turnbow appeared to have been drinking when officers responded to the call.

After finding no signs of injury, police confiscated Muniz's .380 semi-automatic gun and issued disorderly-conduct warnings to Muniz and Turnbow.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department told The Wrap that the incident won't be investigated further.
