Lionsgate Promotes Brian Goldsmith to Co-COO

Goldsmith helped guide the studio's acquistion of Summit

Brian Goldsmith has been promoted to co-chief operating officer of Lionsgate, the studio said Friday.

In his new post, he will oversee the company's digital initiatives and corporate development, along with his fellow co-COO Steve Beeks.

Both men will report to Lionsgate Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer.

As Lionsgate, Goldsmith helped guide the studio's acquisition of Summit, the indie studio behind the "Twilight" franchise. The Vancouver-based Lionsgate hopes that purchase will give them the heft to finally compete with the major studios in Hollywood.

Goldsmith also helped arrange a $800 million revolving credit facility.

Goldsmith has served as executive vice president of corporate development and strategy since September 2008, leading the company’s acquisition and corporate development activities. Prior to that, he served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of Mandate Pictures, which Lionsgate acquired in 2007.
