Adam Sandler Plays Video Games to Save the World in New ‘Pixels’ Trailer (Video)

Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage also lend a hand in Chris Columbus action comedy

The fate of the world rests in the hands of a ragtag team of old-school gamers in the newest trailer for Sony’s “Pixels,” starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan.

The stars play men who were experts at various classic arcade games in the 1980s – Sandler was a master of Pac-Man, Gad dominated Centipede, and it was on like Donkey Kong for Dinklage.

James plays the president of the United States, who calls upon his childhood best friend (Sandler) and a team of middle-aged gamers to save the planet from an alien invasion that arrives in the form of popular video game characters.

Chris Columbus directed from a script by Tim Dowling and Tim Herlihy. The film is based on the award-winning short film by Patrick Jean.

Sandler (Happy Madison) and Columbus (1492 Films) produced the movie with Mark Radcliffe and Allen Covert. Executive producers include Barry Bernardi, Michael Barnathan, Jack Giarraputo, Heather Parry, Steve Koren, Benjamin Darras, Johnny Alves, Matias Boucard, Seth Gordon, Ben Waisbren, Herlihy and Jean.

Sony will release “Pixels” on July 24. Watch the newest trailer above.
