Adam Sandler Steps Into Other People’s Lives in ‘The Cobbler’ Trailer (Video)

Dramedy film sees Sandler’s cobbler use this ability to get closer to a girl, make a wish come true for his mother, and get into serious trouble

Adam Sandler stars in a comedy-drama about a man who discovers he can literally step into other people’s lives. In the first trailer for “The Cobbler,” Sandler tries on a pair of shows he’s just fixed for a customer, only to discover that as soon as he slips them on, he looks like the customer.

Of course, there’s a girl. There’s always a girl.

When she brings in a pair of her boyfriend’s shoes, Sandler just can’t help himself. He steps into the shoes and finds himself face to face with his fantasy when she invites him to join her in the shower. But it isn’t real.

In a more poignant moment, he uses the magic of his shoe repair to grant his mother a special moment with her late husband, played by Dustin Hoffman.

But the trailer goes off the rails from there. As Steve Buscemi chastises him, snippets from the film show that Sandler gets in over his head with dangerous people, guns, fast cars and even a taser.

“The Cobbler” also stars Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Ellen Barkin, Melonie Diaz and Dan Stevens. It was directed by Tom McCarthy who co-wrote it with Paul Sado and co-produced with Mary Jane Skalski. Executive producers include Nicolas Chartier, Zev Foreman and Michael Bederman.

Image Entertainment will release the film, which made its premiere at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, to theaters in 2015.
