Adele Declares Support for Kesha in Brit Awards Acceptance Speech (Video)

Soul singer backed embattled pop star while thanking her own label Columbia for supporting her comeback

While Kesha has hit snags in her legal battle with Sony Music and former mentor and producer Dr. Luke, public opinion keeps swaying in her favor — this time in the form of powerhouse singer Adele.

Following a triumphant return to the charts and to the center of cultural conversation, Adele gave a shoutout to the embattled pop star while accepting a Brit award on Wednesday.

“I’d like to take a quick second just to say thank you to my management and my record label, for embracing the fact that I’m a woman, and being encouraged by it,” Adele said. “And I’d also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha.”

Adele is one of many of Kesha’s famous peers to step forward and offer support. Others include Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato and Lorde.

Kesha maintains she is at a career standstill until appropriate legal action is taken to free her from affiliation with Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald. The singer has accused Gottwald of repeatedly sexually assaulting her for roughly a decade. Kesha is currently signed as a writer and artist singed to Gottwald’s Prescription Songs and Kemosabe Records, imprints of Sony.

Gottwald adamantly denies the accusations, which chronicles a purported 10 years of sexual and psychological abuse.
