Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt played the love-struck couple in the 1981 original
Alex Pettyfer is the perfect man on the outside, but a little dark on the inside in the first trailer for “Endless Love.”
Universal's adaptation of Scott Spencer's 1979 novel of the same name co-stars Gabriella Wilde (“Carrie”) as a virgin teenager who falls for a handsome valet (Pettyfer) at her parents country club.
While her mother (Joely Richardson) appears to like her daughter's choice in men, her father (Bruce Greenwald) is suspicious of the blue-collar boy and does a little digging to discover his checkered past.
According to the film's synopsis, the romance between the teens turns obsessive, dark, and disastrous, so maybe daddy knows best after all.
“Endless Love” lands in theaters on Feb. 14 — just in time to warn young couples that it's better to call it quits before things get too complicated.
