Emmy Streaming Throwdown: How Amazon, Netflix and Hulu Fared

Digital giants shake up Emmy establishment — but who of the three came out on top?

The good news, Netflix: You once again easily topped your broadband competition and left the Emmy nominations podium this year with 34 trophy opportunities.

The bad news: Amazon is gaining on you.

Amazon Instant Video received 12 Emmy nominations on Thursday, up from the zero it had last year. “Transparent” (pictured above) alone accounted for 11 of those.

Netflix earned three more nominations than it did in 2014, which was a breakout year for the streaming king. That said, the company only walked away with seven total statues.

No other streaming network netted more than one additional nomination when compared with last year, and a few lost momentum from 2014. Hulu was shut out again in 2015.

Here is the 2015 broadband breakdown, along with the number of nominations each network received in 2014:

Acorn TV: 1 nomination (0 in 2014)
Amazon Instant Video: 12 nominations (0)
ComedyCentral.com: 1 nomination (0)
EW.com: 1 nomination (0)
Funny or Die: 2 nominations (1 – win)
LouisCK.net: 1 nomination (0)
NBC.com: 1 nominations (3)
Netflix: 34 nominations (31)
Yahoo – 1 nomination (0)
