Kristin Chenoweth has joined the cast of Starz’s “American Gods,” it was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con Friday.

Chenworth will play the character of the goddess Easter opposite Ricky Whittle‘s Shadow moon. The announcement was made as the actress was introduced onstage during the show’s first Comic-Con panel.

The adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel portrays a war between the old gods of biblical and mythological roots and a new group of gods “reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.”

Ian McShane also stars, along with Gillian Anderson, Orlando Jones, Jonathan Tucker and Pablo Schreiber. Michael Green and Bryan Fuller will act as showrunners and executive producers, while David Slade will direct.

Chenoweth previously worked with Fuller on his “Pushing Daisies” series.

“American Gods” is currently filming and will premiere on Starz in 2017.
