‘Arrow’s’ Stephen Amell Will Face Off Against Stardust at WWE SummerSlam

Appearance will mark actor’s official wrestling debut

Stephen Amell, the star of hit CW show “Arrow,” will make his pro wrestling debut at WWE’s upcoming pay per view event SummerSlam.

Amell has been trading jibes on social media with WWE superstar Stardust for weeks now. The feud escalated, however, when Stardust assaulted Amell at ringside during Monday’s episode of RAW.

Amell’s superhero instincts kicked in and he proceeded to jump the barricade, hitting Stardust with a wrestling move called the Spear inside the ring. WWE security jumped in and restrained Amell before he could continue beating on the wrestler.

Following the incident, Amell and pro wrestler Neville, who was also attacked by Stardust, demanded that WWE executive Triple H allow them both to seek revenge. Triple H eventually relented, saying that Amell and Neville would face off against Stardust and King Barrett in a tag team match at SummerSlam.

Amell is the latest in a long line of stars to step inside the squared circle. Mr. T famously teamed with Hulk Hogan to take on the late “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and Paul Orndorff at Wrestlemania I in 1985.

Other stars have also tried their hand at wrestling, like when baseball star Pete Rose received a piledriver from Kane in 1998, or when Drew Carey entered Royal Rumble in 2001 only to eliminate himself by jumping over the top rope.
