‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Poster Plays Favorites With Its Superheroes (Photo)

Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo get preferential treatment on first key art for comic book sequel adaptation

Marvel isn’t being very coy about who they consider the most important Avengers.

A new poster for “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” has been released, and not every superhero is given equal billing.

Robert Downey, Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemswroth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk get front-and-center treatment, while Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner, who play Black Widow and Hawkeye, respectively, are relegated to a small lower left corner of the busy poster, the first to advertise the Marvel superhero team-up sequel.

To be fair, Black Widow and Hawkeye played smaller roles in the first “Avengers” film, but this poster may not be a good sign for fans who were hoping they’d be more prominent in the follow-up.

Also tucked away in another corner are newcomers Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Johnson, who play twins Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, respectively. Samuel L. Jackson, as SHIELD head Nick Fury, is present as well. And the Vision, to be played by Paul Bettany, can also be glimpsed flying in the background.

Conspicuously missing is the titular villain himself, Ultron (James Spader).

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be released on May 1.
