Billy Eichner Performs Original Song He Wrote for Taylor Swift (Video)

Comedian says on TBS’s “Conan” he wrote “Glitter and Ribs” in hopes that Swift would record it

Since Taylor Swift hasn’t yet picked up and recorded Billy Eichner’s original song “Glitter and Ribs,” the comedian decided he would record it himself. He even performed the single live on “Conan” on Wednesday night.

All of this is in hopes that T. Swift will hear of the song and simply have to have it for her next album, or just as a single release. After all, Eichner was inspired by Swift’s songwriting style when he wrote it this past summer, and insists it sounds like one of her songs anyway.

That said, it sounded a lot more like an Avril Lavigne ballad early on with the lines, “He was a boy, I was a girl / What more do you need to know?”

The lyrics were all schmaltzy and overwrought about the angst of young love and the inanity of their lives, with lines like “You’ll never know my heart like my heart knows my heart” and “he served me a fib with a side of lies.”

Taylor Swift seems to be doing fine writing her own songs, but perhaps Eichner’s “Glitter and Ribs” will catch her attention.

“Conan” airs weeknights at 11 p.m. ET on TBS.
