“This is super nice y’all,” Ward tweeted with a link to the production. “Reading silly lines sincerely is really nice.”

The premise puts a dark, post-apocalyptic twist on the whimsical adventures of Finn and his magical, talking dog Jake. When they’re all grown up, magic in the Land of Ooo begins to fade, so the two heroes must “embark on one mommy of an adventure to save their world.”

The dramatic take on “Adventure Time” — which is reminiscent of 2009 Cormac McCarthy adaptation “The Road” — paired with surprisingly rich visual effects has some fans commenting, “I’m praying this is real.”
