David Spade and Vanessa Ferlito have both been cast in upcoming CBS pilots, according to multiple media reports.

Ferlito will co-star in “Drew,” a modern take on the classic Nancy Drew detective novels. She will play Nancy’s best friend George, NYPD homicide detective and Nancy’s former partner on the force who has an innate ability to put other people at ease.

The role of Nancy has not yet been cast.

She joins previously announced cast member Anthony Edwards, who will play Nancy’s father. Joan Rather and Tony Phelan will write and executive produce the pilot, with Dan Jinks also executive producing. CBS Television Studios will produce.

Spade will join the Tina Fey-produced comedy pilot “The Kicker.” He will play the brother of disgraced NFL kicker Daryl (Geoff Stults). Spade will play Russ, Daryl’s brother and agent who spends most of his time doing damage control as Daryl makes controversial comments.

The multi-camera comedy will be executive produced by Fey, Robert Carlock, Jack Burditt and David Miner. Burditt will also write for the series. Universal Television will produce in association with Little Stranger Inc.
