Emmy Quickie: What Would Make the ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ Choreographer ‘Do a Full-Body Jig’ (Exclusive Video)

Emmy nominee Kathryn Burns tells TheWrap how “we’re always constantly laughing” on the CW show’s set

The CW’s “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” earned an Emmy nomination for its choreography, and the show’s dance master is looking forward to actually getting to celebrate if she wins the award.

“I would do a little dance,” Kathryn Burns recently told TheWrap of how she would react to winning. “When I was nominated, I just had surgery and I could only finger-wave, I couldn’t even laugh. I’m fine, I’m totally fine, it was only minor surgery, but I think I would do a full-body jig.”

“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” follows Rachel Bloom as Rebecca Bunch, a New York City lawyer who quits her fancy job in the city to follow her high school ex-boyfriend to West Covina, California — with plenty of musical numbers along the way.

“Production is super fast-paced, because we shoot an hour-long episode in seven days, so sometimes we only have half a day for a full music video,” Burns shared. “And things are always changing. The jokes always come first, which is awesome, so we’re always constantly laughing. But yeah, it’s pretty fast, it’s a quick turnaround.”

Burns also revealed who she would thank first if she did indeed win the Emmy on Sunday, Sept. 18, as well as who in her category she wants to win if she doesn’t.
