David Beckham Revealed as People’s Sexiest Man Alive on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ (Video)

The British sports star takes over the title from actor Chris Hemsworth

Jimmy Kimmel revealed People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2015 during Tuesday night’s show, and as usual, he had some fun with the announcement.

David Beckham was named as the honoree for this year’s title, taking over from “Thor” hunk Chris Hemsworth who held the coveted role in 2014.

For the third year in a row, late-night host Kimmel had the duty of introducing him to the public, this time by doing a “Yes or No” guessing game with the audience.

Once again, Kimmel covered the winner’s face and distorted his voice to disguise his identity, but he did reveal that he was in London, which was a big clue.

After a curious collection of questions including “were you in a boy band?” and “have you ever been to jail?” one clever guest guessed correctly.

“He’s a romantic husband, a devoted dad and he vacuums,” quipped Kimmel, as he introduced the 40-year-old global sports star turned underwear model.

“It’s the best moment of my career,” the former Manchester United and England football player replied, somewhat tongue-in-cheek.

He went on to thank his parents, his hairdresser and PhotoShop. Of course, Kimmel had to slip in a jab about his own personal nemesis and asked, “Is there anything you would like to say to all the gross, ugly losers like Matt Damon who didn’t make it?”

“Maybe next year,” replied the polite Brit.

The husband to Victoria and father to Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 12, Cruz, 10, and Harper, 4, Beckham told People that he’s been getting the most ribbing about his win from his eldest son. “Brooklyn was the one who was like, ‘Are you sure it’s not me that’s meant to be there today?’”

In 2013, Kimmel created a fake awards ceremony to introduce Adam Levine, and last year he did 20 Questions to introduce Hemsworth, who will next be seen starring in Ron Howard‘s “In the Heart of the Sea.”

The latest issue of People Magazine with Beckham on the cover hits newsstands Wednesday.
