The Oscar-winning team behind "The Hurt Locker" are looking to reunite earlier than originally scheduled.
Director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal are reportedly shopping a pitch for a low-budget international thriller that could go before cameras prior to their upcoming collaboration on Paramount's "Triple Frontier," according to Variety.
Although Boal hasn't started writing the script yet, the film is apparently based on recent news events involving black ops.
Bigelow and Boal are in the midst of searching for financing for the indie project, which is said to be similar in approach to the $10 million "Hurt Locker."
The new project is not expected to affect "Triple Frontier," which will likely begin filming in fall 2011 with star Tom Hanks and three other male leads that have yet to be cast, although Johnny Depp has expressed interest in doing the project once he wraps Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows."
Delaying the start of production on "Triple Frontier" a few months will give Bigelow more flexibility with regards to casting, allowing additional time for negotiations and scheduling.
Bigelow and Boal are represented by CAA, while the latter is also repped by Management 360.
