"The Wolf of Wall Street" is finally howling.
Martin Scorsese is officially attached to the film adaptation of Jordan Belfort's bestselling memoir, and Leonardo DiCaprio is starring, TheWrap confirmed Wednesday.
That makes their fifth venture together, following 2002's "Gangs of New York," 2004's "The Aviator," 2006's "The Departed" and 2010's "Shutter Island."
The movie -- at one point a Warner Bros. project with Ridley Scott set to direct -- will chronicle Belfort's Wall Street rise and fall, and show his hard-partying lifestyle, drug addiction and destructive personal life.
Alexandra Milchan, DiCaprio's Appian Way and Scorsese are now producing the movie, which was written by Emmy Award-winning writer Terry Winter ("Sopranos," "Boardwalk Empire").
Belfort founded one of the first chop shop brokerage firms in 1987. He served a 22 months in federal prison for fraud and money laundering related to stock market manipulation.
Sober for nearly 14 years, he's now a successful motivational speaker and corporate trainer who also works with the Salvation Army and MaAfrika Tikkun.
"After almost four years in development, I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am to finally be working with Leo and Marty on this," Belfort said in a statement. "They're the ultimate dream team, and it was definitely worth the wait."
Financing details and a start date will be announced at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
DiCaprio is now shooting Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar Hoover biopic, "Hoover." Scorsese is in postproduction on "Hugo Cabret." His next film will be "Silence," starring Benicio Del Toro and based on the book by Shusaku Endo.
