EXCLUSIVE:

"Arrested Development" creator Mitchell Hurwitz and Imagine Entertainment are developing a remake of Lars von Trier's Norwegian comedy "Direktoren For Det Hele" at Universal, TheWrap has learned.

Titled "The Boss of It All," the movie focuses on the owner of a small IT company who pretends there's another boss above him in order to more easily break bad news to his employees.

When he sells the company and the new owner wants to meet said boss, he has to hire a failed actor to play him ... with wacky results.

According to an insider close to the project, it's been in development for about a year, with the producers still waiting to get a script outline together.

Hurwitz is signed on to direct, with Imagine's Brian Grazer and Ron Howard executive producing. Emma Forrest is attached to write the screenplay.

Universal reps have not yet returned calls for comment.
