Did “Daredevil” just drop a huge clue about the plot of “The Defenders” miniseries?

The Marvel-Netflix show’s official Twitter account posted a picture of a page from the fictional New York Bulletin with the caption “Look closely, you never know what you’ll see.”

Aside from the main story on the page that’s about The Punisher from the show’s second season, there is a smaller headline in the corner that reads, “New Theories Shed Light on Lost City.”

Now, in “Iron Fist,” series protagonist Danny Rand receives his mystical martial arts training in the lost city of K’un L’un. But the team over at Moviepilot think this mystery goes deeper.

K’un L’un is one of seven Heavenly Cities in the Marvel universe, but Marvel writer Duane Swierczynski previously said that there is an eighth city that is used as a prison for all manner of demonic creatures.

In “Daredevil” Season 2, the evil clan of ninjas known as The Hand dig a massive hole in the bottom of a New York City building. The reason for why they have done this has yet to be revealed. Could The Hand be tunneling their way to the eighth city?

In addition, in a previous “Iron Fist” comics storyline, Rand faces off against a creature known as Ch’i-Lin, who takes over the body of a human named Zhou Cheng in order to infiltrate the Rand Corporation. Lewis Tan has been cast to play Zhou Cheng in the upcoming “Iron Fist” series.

What’s more, in the comics, Rand’s friends go to Cheng’s apartment and find a map that purports to reveal the location of the eighth city.

Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage will join forces in “The Defenders,” which does not have an official premiere date but is expected to be in 2017.
